Many Australians have never even tasted bushfoods, yet they have been sustaining Indigenous Australians as a source of food and medicine for over 70,000 years. Since 2015, The Australian Superfood Co has brought these nutritious and versatile ingredients into your kitchen in the form of freeze-dried powders, liquid extracts and dehydrated produce.
Before launching, The Australian Superfood Co engaged industry leaders and identified two factors that restricted the market growth of Australian natives: a lack of consistent supply, and a lack of consistency of product. To address this, The Australian Superfood Co began the preserving process, buying large quantities when the fruits, nuts and herbs are in season and conserving them. This way, The Australian Superfood Co can guarantee an annual supply for customers, while offering a consistent and quality product.
By increasing awareness, accessibility and affordability of Australian Superfoods, we aim to increase their demand and encourage their cultivation. We hope to enhance the respect for our Indigenous culture, promote the growth of Indigenous communities and foster the local food movement.
Commitment to community
Indigenous communities have a wonderfully rich 70,000 year history in Australia. Indigenous people considered themselves caretakers of the land and managed it in a way which sustained themselves while preserving it for future generations.
